Nuerte Noperto is, as its Rastakgic name suggests, the northernmost settlement of the former Rastakgan Hierarchy. It stretched across a series of mountainous islands and, despite its incredibly small size (well under three hundred thousand inhabitants before the onset of the War) was internationally known as a hub of environmental research. Nuerte Noperto was the launching point for a number of expeditions into the Arctic, as well as a common meeting point for the development of conservation programs in northern Jah. Long before the war, the settlement’s unique position and inherent appeal to esoterics and academics lent it a sort of mystique and interest uncommon in the Hierarchy, considering it’s relative lack of rich history or proven cultural significance.
It is known that Nuerte Noperto’s advanced facilities and modest docking infrastructure made it the target of a single Unity raid during the war. It is also known that the city survived the operation at least partially intact, and evaded further tragedy after some sort of desperate negotiations with The Pax Equilibrium. Fortunately for the settlement, it’s sheer distance from the conflict and tiny size made it a poor staging area, insufficient last-ditch fortification, and generally strategically insignificant to the point where the Alliance could not use it, and Pact had no reason to destroy it.
Today, Nuerte Noperto’s isolation has kept its current state shrouded in mystery. Aside from still being inhabited and significant portions of its infrastructure surviving, little information escapes the distant north. It’s political affiliation is completely unknown, and the Equilibrium remains strangely silent on how exactly things stood at the end of the war. Nuerte Noperto is equally likely the site of classified utopian cooperative environmental projects or the ultra-fortified lair of the Rebirth’s mutated leadership, and that only adds to its strange allure.
